Programs
Healthy Snacks Workshop in Schools
The Healthy Snacks Workshop is a
program designed to help Chicago
school children learn better eating
habits and to make simple, healthy
snacks and meals. This program is
currently in place at McAuliffe School
and Academy for Global Citizenship
and we are planning on expanding to
additional schools in the 2010-11
school year and are actively seeking
new volunteers and schools. For
more information about our school
programs, please click here to review

Partnership with the Department of Family and Support Services
Head Spear Melissa Graham and fellow board member Elena Marre of The
Kids' Table are teaming up with DFSS for the Department's Mobile Fairs
where we'll be teaching low-income parents how to cook for their families
in healthy, nutritious, and economic way. DFSS holds these mobile fairs
once a month around the city in its under served communities.

Growing Healthy Kids
In 2010, Purple Asparagus spearheaded a coalition of child nutrition and
school food advocates called Growing Healthy Kids. At our inaugural meeting
in January, we met at Logan Square Kitchen to discuss possible collaborative
efforts to improve the health of Chicago's children. We are working towards
creating a health fair open to parents, teachers, and administrators that will
provide information about programs available for schools in Chicagoland.
