Volunteering with Purple Asparagus is a delicious delight!
Purple Asparagus's programs thrive because of volunteers.
With more than 5000 eager kids in classrooms across
Chicagoland, every volunteer really does make a difference.
Educational & Program Volunteer Opportunities:
Chef Instructor: Are you a trained chef or good home cook
who loves working with school kids? We need your help
developing, organizing and presenting school programs.
Classroom Assistant: Whether it's for a program in your
own child's school or in any of Purple Asparagus' other
program schools, our Chef Instructors always welcome an
extra pair or hands.
Curriculum Writer: Help us aligning our curricula with
national and state math, science, social studies, and
literacy standards.
Community Program Volunteer: Throughout the year,
Purple Asparagus presents informal, drop-in programs at
farmers markets, health fairs, green expos, and so on. We
love helping hands! The more the merrier.
Fundraising and Development Volunteer Opportunities:
Grant Researcher & Writer: Our goal is to provide
programs to as many school as possible, and while our
expenses are exceptionally low, we depend on grants to
keep our programs affordable to the underserved schools in
the region. If you're a proven grant writer, we'd love your
help.
Benefit Assistant: Between Corks & Crayons, our annual
fundraising event, and other special events, we welcome
volunteers with great organizational skills and event
experience.
Corporate Network Liaison: Are you part of Chicago's
business community with great connections to people who
care about food that's good for the body and the planet
and helping kids learn more about healthy eating? We'd love
your help connecting Purple Asparagus to new, friendly
faces!
Marketing Volunteer Opportunities:
Newsletter Writer/Editor: Do you love writing great copy
that shares news and gets results? We'd love your help with
our newsletter. It's short and sweet, but packed with
news, ideas, recipes, and so much more!
Videographer/Photographer: Have camera ... will travel?
Bring your camera along and shoot our programs and
events. Help us build our digital library of all those smiling
faces!
Media Liaison: Work with our committees and the Head
Spear to help Purple Asparagus plug into local, regional and
national media resources.
Graphic Designer: Help Purple Asparagus develop signs,
banners, promotional materials and collateral.
Administrative Volunteer Opportunities:
Office Assistant: Help us maintain lists, stuff envelopes,
plan for and present meetings ... the list of opportunities is
almost endless!
