Melissa,
Thank you so much for coming to
our classroom today. It was perfect
enrichment to our current
conversation about food. The
students definitely enjoyed the
challenge of tasting the vegetables,
and they learned a lot along the
way!

Until next time,
Mari A.
(C) 2011 Purple Asparagus
Purple Asparagus: Delicious Nutritious AdventuresTM is a
program designed to help Chicago school children learn
better eating habits and to make simple, healthy snacks
and meals. Delicious Nutritious Adventures
TM is currently in
place in numerous Chicago Public Schools and we're actively
seeking new volunteers. However, because that because of
limits on our resources, we currently have a wait list.
For more information about our school programs, please

here to review our Education Package. And if you'd
like to help bring Delicious Nutrition Adventures
TM to new
schools, please
support us.

Throughout the school year, Purple Asparagus presents
curriculum-based, in-class, hands-on programs. For
information about scheduling a Purple Asparagus program at
your child's school, or for your social or community
organization, please contact Head Spear Melissa Graham at

Our popular, "Healthy, Happy Snacking Workshop" gives
parents creative ideas for delicious, nutritious snacks for
school and home. In this class, we'll discuss what it means
to be healthy, demonstrate simple, delicious snack recipes,
and explain how to read  labels when buying processed
foods. The class includes samples, recipes, and a question
and answer session.

Growing Healthy Kids
In 2010, Purple Asparagus spearheaded a coalition of child
nutrition and school food advocates called Growing Healthy
Kids. At our inaugural meeting in January, we met at the
Logan Square Kitchen to discuss possible collaborative
efforts to improve the health of Chicago's children. We are
working towards creating a health fair open to parents,
teachers, and administrators that will provide information
about programs available for schools in Chicagoland.  Click
here for a brochure providing information about these
organizations.

Purple Asparagus helped our friends at the Northwestern
University Master's Program in Learning and Organizational
Change create
Building Local Foods Awareness: A guide for
parents, schools, and organizations.

We are always adding new programs and events to our
schedule so please check back with us often or sign up for
our
mailing list by clicking here.
