Health Eating Presentation at Little GEMS

Chicago’s newest preschool, Little GEMS International – Lincoln Park, is hosting a
presentation for families on healthy eating featuring the “Head Spear” of Purple Asparagus.

“Delicious, Nutritious Adventures with Purple Asparagus: Eating Healthy for You and Your
Family,” takes place Saturday, January 28 from 10:00-11:00 a.m., at Little GEMS
International – Lincoln Park, 2301 North Clark Street. Opening the program will be Diane
Schael, Head of School for Little GEMS International -  Lincoln Park.

Presenting the program will be Melissa Graham, “Head Spear” of Purple Asparagus, a local
non-profit organization that educates children, families, and the community about all
things associated with good eating, eating that's good for the body and the planet.
Melissa speaks and writes regularly on child nutrition and sustainability, blogging at Little
Locavores, as The Sustainable Cook on The Local Beet, and as a regular contributor to Kiwi
Magazine’s KiwiLog. Most importantly, she's mom to Thor, 7.

“Eating Healthy” is the latest in a series of programs for families sponsored by Little GEMS
International – Lincoln Park, opening in September. Little GEMS International provides a
unique, high-quality preschool experience for babies, toddlers and young children (“Little
Gems”) from 6 weeks to 5 years of age. The curriculum is based on the latest international
research on how the earliest learners grow and develop, coupled with individualized care
and attention for each child.
